ECO FRIENDLY WATERLESS SANITATION SYSTEMS
CHEMICAL FREE, ODORLESS, WATERLESS & LOW MAINTENANCE.

This Sanitation System is a waterless, dehydration / evaporation system that provides a safe, non-polluting and cost effective solution to the worldwide sanitation problem. It offers a standard of respectability and convenience, comparable to a waterborne system, yet without the prohibitive costs and obvious strain on precious water resources.

The system has been tried, tested and evaluated in the field since 1997. The evaluation period involved scientific, health as well as community tests and feedback. Widespread experience with the system in South Africa and neighboring countries has demonstrated that it is a cost-effective, respectable, hygienic and environmentally friendly system that satisfies the dignity of all users.

The Toilet's main features are:
Relatively lightweight and easy to move into position during installation.
The unit does not require any type of flushing mechanism, eliminating the risk of mechanical failure.
It uses no water, so no plumbing is required.
It has no sewer connections.
It is ideally suited for both city, rural and bush homes.
It has a modern and functional design and is easily transportable.
It uses no chemicals.
It is a sanitation system that does not require any water to function. Not only does it save on water use, but also it is entirely isolated from the surrounding environment and cannot contaminate underground water resources.
The system utilizes a natural biological process to break down human waste into a dehydrated odorless compost-like material.

How it works..
(1) The human waste falls down a vertical chute and into one end of a specially designed helical screw conveyor.
(2) Every time the toilet lid is lifted, a mechanism rotates the conveyor. with each rotation the human waste slowly moves along, taking approximately twenty-five days before falling into a reusable collection bag
(3) It takes six months for the bag to fill with dry and odorless waste, through a uniquely designed ventilation pipe
(4) Adequate airflow is provided for the dehydration/evaporation, deodorizing process.
(5) Human waste consists of roughly 95% moisture and as the solids dry in the conveyer, the urine and moisture is vented into the atmosphere - the solid waste then dries into a compost-like material, roughly 5 - 10% of its original mass.

The dry waste is manageable and can be processed in the following ways.
Use it in the making of compost
Dispose of it by using municipal waste services
Use it as a source of fuel
Large objects like beverage cans, disposable nappies or other objects accidentally dropped down the chute will not block the system, it is however not advisable to do this

Technical Specs
Length - 2450 mm
Width - 630 mm
Height - 750 mm above floor level (toilet bowl)
Height of catchment drum at back - 1120 mm
Material LDPE - Low Density Poly-Ethylene
Weight 90 Kg's

Due to the design and the non-stick surface of the chute, the human waste falls directly into the processing drum and into the area where the air is extracted.
As with any other toilet system, periodic cleaning of the bowl is recommended.
The system is designed so that all odors are extracted through the bowl, processing drum and then out via the extractor pipe and fans/turbine.
Three air ventilation systems are available, a wind turbine, solar powered D.C. fan and an A.C. fan.
The system was designed to handle normal amounts of urine, in fact it assists with the removal of odors due to the additional ventilation it causes because of evaporation.
A little bit of water in the system will not cause it to malfunction, it will help in the ventilation/ evaporation process.
Because the whole process is a dry process there, is no need for a septic tank, temporary storage takes place inside the processing drum until the waste is dropped into the removal bag.
No special maintenance of the toilet system is required.
As with all other toilets it is recommended that the bowl be cleaned regularly with a soft brush and some soap or toilet cleaner.
The toilets are designed for a family of 6 to 10 people.
No special detergent are needed to keep the toilet clean, a bit of liquid soap or disinfectant and water is enough.
This sanitation system is sensitive to the requirements on most cultures.
